It's World Autism Awareness Day and the beginning of #AutismAcceptanceMonth. This year, the team at NEXT for AUTISM is celebrating our 20th anniversary. We are reflecting on 20 years of listening, innovating, empowering, and sharing.
Driven by our deep belief that individuals with autism deserve to live fulfilling and productive lives, NEXT has two decades of experience launching ground-breaking initiatives like the NYC Autism Charter Schools, the first in the state of New York to focus exclusively on children with autism, Hunter College Autism Center providing advanced degrees to practitioners throughout New York State, and a state-of-the-art diagnostic and support center with New York-Presbyterian, Columbia, and Weill Cornell. Today, we are laser-focused on building national programs that enhance the lives of autistic adults in the areas of home, work, social, health, and well-being.
We know celebrations are important to help bring greater awareness to the community at large, but what’s most essential is our collective work to change the paradigm for how individuals with autism thrive throughout their adult lives. It is time to forge the path into the next 20 years, to ensure that all autistic adults and their families have the tools, resources, and opportunities to live their best lives.
You are an integral part of what’s next for autism. You’ve been with NEXT as we’ve listened, learned, and evolved … as we’ve innovated, and sought to empower. Please join us now as we embark on the next 20 years of innovation and impact. Learn more about NEXT’s anniversary and how you can be an active part of enhancing the future for autistic adults.
With gratitude,
