WHO THEY ARE
SNACK and Friends, Inc. is an organization with a mission to provide unique programs designed to fill a void for children, teens, and young adults with autism and other developmental and intellectual disabilities. Their programming is designed to support and serve those who are unable to participate in other programs due to challenging behaviors and high support needs. These intensive programs help those who may otherwise be unable to access services, the opportunity to make friends, improve skills, build confidence, work, and become more independent.
Parents of children with autism face the harsh reality that when their child turns 21, available support is significantly limited. Many families are turned away from existing special needs programs, due to the inability to accommodate the individual due to physical, behavioral, and language challenges. To address this critical need in the community, SNACK 21+ was developed. The program is a full day of classes (Monday - Friday) for adults 21+, allowing parents the assurance that their young adults are safe, cared for, and engaged in learning meaningful life skills. Building on this programming, SNACK 21+ expanded to include respite programming with overnight stays in a supported, safe environment, giving families a much-needed time for rest.
