WHO THEY ARE
Association for Autism and Neurodiversity (AANE) helps autistic and similarly neurodivergent people build meaningful, connected lives. They provide individuals, families, and professionals with education, community, and support in an inclusive atmosphere of validation and respect.
For many autistic adults, navigating life's challenges - whether it's finding the right mental health support, securing employment, fostering relationships, or simply building a sense of belonging - can feel overwhelming. Too often, these individuals struggle to find resources that truly understand and meet their needs. That's where the Association for Autism and Neurodiversity (AANE) steps in.
AANE’s autistic-led support calls and groups provide a safe, understanding space for autistic adults to connect, seek guidance, and find community. With a model designed and facilitated by autistic individuals, these programs ensure participants interact with people who “speak the same language” and share lived experiences. Whether through one-on-one support calls or identity-based group discussions, AANE is helping to bridge the gap for autistic adults looking for meaningful connections.
THE RESULTS
-
- 3,439 people supported
- 171 BIPOC individuals
- 390 LGBTQIA+ individuals
- 2,166 individuals utilize financial aid
- 84 multisession groups
- 478 single-session groups
What Makes AANE's Approach Unique?
Unlike traditional support programs, AANE’s services are designed by and for the autistic community. The program includes:
- One-on-One Support Calls: Led by autistic clinicians, these highly individualized information and resource (I&R) calls range from 30 to 90 minutes and provide guidance on topics like mental health, employment, independent living, service providers, and relationships. Many participants find these calls so impactful that they return regularly for support.
- Autistic-Led Support Groups: These groups foster a sense of belonging by bringing together autistic adults who share similar identities, interests, or life stages. Many groups are organized by age and identity, and all groups ensure participants feel validated and understood in a judgment-free environment.
The Impact: Creating Lifelines for Autistic Adults
AANE’s autistic-led model isn’t just about providing resources—it’s about changing lives. Many participants describe the support groups and calls as lifesaving, giving them their first true sense of connection and belonging.
“I just want to cry with joy right now that I have found this group. It is truly life-saving and so helpful.”
At its core, AANE’s work is about ensuring that no autistic adult feels alone. NEXT’s investment in their was not just funding services—but also belonging, empowerment, and a future where Aautistic individuals are fully seen, heard, and supported.
