Hire for Merit.
Retain for Results.
Autistic adults deserve to be seen for their MERIT--from the workplace to every facet of life.
Below are five simple ways you can make that happen during April for Autism Acceptance Month, and beyond. Join us in sharing what many of us already know: autistic adults bring talent, strength, insight, and value to our workplaces and communities.
The reality is, autistic adults define MERIT, no matter how you spell it.
Thank you.
1. Share What's NEXT
Let's spread the word about the personal and business benefits of neuroinclusion.
Share our messaging and social posts with your networks to shine a spotlight on the value, and MERIT, of neuroinclusion in the workplace and in our daily lives.
Please tag us @nextforautism so we can re-share!
2. Share Workplace Resources
Help make workplaces more neuroinclusive, from hiring to day-to-day work culture.
NEXT for AUTISM has created free resources designed specifically for job seekers, employees, and employers (managers, executives, and HR teams).
Tools range from hiring and job descriptions to accommodations and universal design.
3. Be a Neuroinclusive Mentor
Data shows that one of the most impactful ways to support job seekers and employees is through mentorship. This is the foundation of NEXT for AUTISM's NEXT CONNECTS bi-directional mentorship initiative. This unique program supports job seekers entering the workforce while fostering improved acceptance and inclusion within businesses.
Will you serve as a mentor? NEXT is currently recruiting for its next session and is looking for established professionals to serve as co-mentors for some amazing job seekers.
4. Support Autistic-Led and Autistic-Forward Businesses
You have a choice of where you buy your coffee, snacks, dog treats, clothing, merchandise, etc. Why not support the smart, hard-working autistic adults behind so many wonderful in-person and online businesses? And the businesses that are dedicated to neuroinclusion as part of their mission.
Here is a brief list of businesses and organizations - including the NEXT for AUTISM storefront thanks to Spectrum Designs. If you know of more that we should list, please email [email protected].
5. Make a Financial Gift
Help build NEXT's neuroinclusive programs that support autistic individuals in the areas of work, home, social, and health with a financial gift. Or support one of our amazing April-Autism Acceptance Month partners:
- 514 Studio/Team Chaos is raising money on their Twitch live streams!
- Autism consultant Kerry Magro is donating $1 to NEXT for each shirt sold on his storefront!
Thank you!
